  1. Part of my comments come from this said statement by Gardener, "In our obsession with meeting the competition overseas, we've taken the fun out of teaching and learning." I remember what it felt like to REALLY teach and not have to worry about test scores. When was that? My first three years of teaching. I honestly cared less about the SC PACT test. My scores were always high, but that was not my driving force in my classroom. My goal for my students was just the basic love of learning. I wanted them to know everything thing I knew and more. I covered what needed to be covered, but if we went over the "deadline"...guess what...I didn't care. I long for those days. I miss those days. Is teaching fun, hmmm...I am still asking myself that question.
